Upholstery Arts

While other furniture companies may advertise the use of sustainable products, Upholstery Arts’ (UA) goal is simple: to be the greenest furniture company on planet earth. With their popular modern design and innovative engineering and manufacturing methods, they’re well on their way.

The Vancouver-based furniture designer and manufacturer emphasizes the use of renewable supplies, while rejecting the use of toxic materials commonly used in the making of furniture. UA only uses wood products that are certified by the Rainforest Alliance and recognized by the Forest Stewardship Council.

Glues, finishes and recyclable textiles do not contain hazardous air pollutants and wraps and padding are made from 100% wool. UA has also eliminated the use of polyurethane foam in all of their products and adopted the use of natural latex padding, an environmentally friendly alternative harvested from live trees.

Even when their products are at the end of their life cycle, Upholstery Arts ensures their environmental impact is minimal. The company encourages customers to bring their old furniture back to the store so it can be properly recycled.

Upholstery Arts provided both the soft furniture and dining furniture for the BC Showcase.
