Kootenay Innovative Wood

Kootenay Innovative Wood (KIW) is more than a modern remanufacturing company; they are a convergence of values and principles, marketing superior products with a globally responsible approach. “Take care of the land and the land will take care of you” has been the guiding principle for generations of the Kalesnikoff family and the foundation of Kalesnikoff Lumber Co. Ltd. since 1939. This commitment to sustainable forestry and harvesting practices has ensured their corporate longevity.

Kootenay Innovative Wood was created to produce sustainable valued-added products that reflect the rustic warmth of BC’s softwood forests. KIW’s remanufacturing facility is located in the Kootenay Interior Wet Belt area, an ideal environment for growth of beautiful, densely-grained softwood. KIW uses this superior quality larch and fir to create specialty products such as flooring, paneling, and moulding.

The South Slocan-based company provided larch flooring for the BC Showcase, including the centrepiece circle in the hosting space. Larch is known not just for the look of its bold grains, but for its strength and adaptability.
